Hi everyone! I thought I would participate in WWW Wednesday today. This meme is hosted by Sam over at Taking on a World of Words. You can link your blog post to Sam’s website that way we can interact and find other bloggers =)
The questions are:
1. What are you currently reading?
2. What did you recently finish reading?
3. What do you think you’ll read next?
This is a cheat but I will be starting it today lol. I received Warcross by Marie Lu at BookCon, after almost catching an anxiety attack because of the line and the madness that was behind it. No seriously, I almost did and I never want to go through that madness ever again. Which is why I didn’t even attempt to get Warbringer by Leigh Bardugo the following day because I knew it was going to be even worse! However, I got to meet Marie Lu and she’s a lovely human being! I cannot wait to see what I think of this book.
I recently finished Stalking Jack the Ripper by Kerri Maniscalco and I really liked this book! I rated SJTR a 4 star and I am hoping to have a non spoiler review up sometime this week, fingers crossed. I love the main character and how bad ass she is, especially in an era where misogyny is huge. She loves science and isn’t afraid to admit that she does even when people frown upon her for it.
Since I am participating in #ARCAugust (click here for TBR post), the next two books will be ARCs that I also received at BookCon.
DO YOU NOTICE THE THEME HERE?!?! I AM LIVING FOR IT!!! YASSSS SLAY MY LIFE!! I cannot wait to read these two. I am really excited for all the reads. I really can’t wait to read Odd & True, a YA Paranormal Historical Fiction, I’ve seen mixed reviews for it which makes me really curious to see how I’ll feel about it. Hunting Prince Dracula is the second installment to Stalking Jack the Ripper and I am hoping for more amazingness!
any of these books are on your list? what are you currently reading? i would love to chat in the comments! hope you’re all having a great day!

Oh these all seem like great books Gretchen, can’t really say for sure because I haven’t read any of them myself! 😀 I really hope you enjoy Warcross, it’s so lucky you managed to get an ARC but oh it sucks about the near anxiety attack you experienced in the queue. I suffered from a little of that when I was at YALC and it was horrible. I never want to have to go through it again myself either.
Also I’m really glad to see you enjoyed Stalking Jack the Ripper, that’s one I need to get around to myself ASAP. It’s been on my to-read list for ages and it’s the kind of book I know I’m going to love! 😀

Sorry to hear about what you went through at YALC, it’s oh so horrible and I hope events like these get organized better. I have a good feeling about Warcross since I really enjoy Marie Lu’s writing. And I hope you like Stalking Jack the Ripper! It was really good and so worth the read, definitely gave me the spooks! Happy reading Beth ❤

Same here, the signing queues for authors were OK, it was just some of the queues for ARCs that needed to be better organised,
I’ll be looking forwards to seeing your review for Warcross, and thanks Gretchen. I hope so too! 😀 ❤

Yes! I agree! I feel like the signing queues at BookCon were FLAWLESS compared to the lines for ARCs. It was true madness.

I guess we just have to hope one year they get better.

Can’t wait to see what you think of Hunting Prince Dracula. I just finished Stalking Jack the Ripper a few weeks ago, and I’m super eager to see how the author will deal with Dracula. Hope you have a great reading week! 🙂

Ugh, anxiety attack over a book?! This is one of the reasons I didn’t go to BookCon when it was in Chicago (only 3 hours from me!)– I just can’t imagine the chaos happening around there. So many people. *shudder*
Warcross is the only book on this list when is on my TBR. I haven’t read any of Lu’s works, but I am really into gamer fiction. I can’t wait to see your review of Stalking Jackie the Ripper— I want to know what you enjoy about it!

It was a lot of people around the same publishing house which is Penguin. They had all the imprint houses in one section as well and people kept going back to it since that’s where they had all the goodies. Ugh it was really bad and I never want to go through that again. Reading is for fun, not for the chaos. Blah! I am so far really liking Warcross!

That’s super fascinating, and it was probably also a bit against the capacity restrictions for the space Penguin was using if you were that stressed out about it.
I’m glad Warcross is good so far! I hope it is worth the battle you went through to get it. 😀
