Waiting on Wednesday

Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted by Breaking The Spine. On every Wednesday you discuss a book that you are highly anticipating.

This week’s pick is something that I had discovered at New York Comic Con and although I received an ARC, I wanted to show all of you because IT SOUNDS SO GOOD!!!! Plus it’s getting so much buzz. The story sounds unique and authentic with a retelling twist. Without further ado:

Roseblood by A.G. Howard

28818314.jpgRelease Date: January 10, 2017

Synopsis from Goodreads:

In this modern day spin on Leroux’s gothic tale of unrequited love turned to madness, seventeen-year-old Rune Germain has a mysterious affliction linked to her operatic talent, and a horrifying mistake she’s trying to hide. Hoping creative direction will help her, Rune’s mother sends her to a French arts conservatory for her senior year, located in an opera house rumored to have ties to The Phantom of the Opera.

At RoseBlood, Rune secretly befriends the masked Thorn—an elusive violinist who not only guides her musical transformation through dreams that seem more real than reality itself, but somehow knows who she is behind her own masks. As the two discover an otherworldly connection and a soul-deep romance blossoms, Thorn’s dark agenda comes to light and he’s forced to make a deadly choice: lead Rune to her destruction, or face the wrath of the phantom who has haunted the opera house for a century, and is the only father he’s ever known.

A. G. Howard brings the romantic storytelling that Splintered fans adore to France—and an entirely new world filled with lavish romance and intrigue—in a retelling inspired by a story that has captivated generations. Fans of both the Phantom of the Opera musical and novel, as well as YA retellings such as Marissa Meyer’s Cinder, will devour RoseBlood.

Waiting on Wednesday: Crooked Kingdom

Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted by Breaking The Spine. On every Wednesday you discuss a book that you are highly anticipating.

One book I am highly anticipating is Crooked Kingdom (Six of Crows #2) by Leigh Bardugo

Release Date: 09/27/2016

Now I don’t want to talk about this book because I’m afraid that I’ll give away spoilers, instead I’ll just add the synopsis of the first book Six of Crows down below (synopsis is from Goodreads):

Ketterdam: a bustling hub of international trade where anything can be had for the right price—and no one knows that better than criminal prodigy Kaz Brekker. Kaz is offered a chance at a deadly heist that could make him rich beyond his wildest dreams. But he can’t pull it off alone…

A convict with a thirst for revenge.

A sharpshooter who can’t walk away from a wager.

A runaway with a privileged past.

A spy known as the Wraith.

A Heartrender using her magic to survive the slums.

A thief with a gift for unlikely escapes.

Kaz’s crew are the only ones who might stand between the world and destruction—if they don’t kill each other first.

Six of Crows is one of my favorite books of 2016. It was a 5/5 stars! I loved the plot, the characters, the suspense, the darkness of the world. I loved everything about this book. It was just perfect to me. I originally had my doubts about this book because I honestly didn’t really like The Grisha Trilogy but Six of Crows was phenomenal!

This is how I picture each of the characters, photo credit goes to this person (click here)

Six of Crows was left with such a cliff hanger. I can’t wait for Crooked Kingdom to see what happens with some of these characters and the story!!
