I read this beautiful collection while on my way home from work. This poetry book can be read in less than an hour. I loved all of this and it resonated with me. Even the illustrations gave this book an added touch to the amazing writing.

Hummingbird is about a relationship that fell apart and how Sophia found herself anew. She talks about her feelings and thought process through and after the relationship. Some of the poems mentions experiences that she went through and didn’t think of till she met this person. And it was so relatable because as humans, we sometimes don’t completely grasp something till we’ve been through it ourselves.

I felt like I was going through the motions with her. I found myself longing and being positive in the end.

This one is added to my favorites list for 2017.

Here are some of my faves:

When I was fifteen, I got
sick. No cure, only
treatment. When I was
sixten I was assaulted. I
used to joke that at least
I got the bad stuff out of
the way early, as if there
was a cap on how much pain
a person could endure over
the course of their life.

– Obviously, I had never
been in love

I am currently reading Strange the Dreamer by Laini Taylor. And so far I am loving it! I know I know you’re probably thinking “why are you reading this if you DNFed her previous series?” lol well!! I must admit, she’s an amazing writer. And she does create amazing worlds. This one just sounds so good and I couldn’t help myself. My twin Lilly @LairofBooks and I bought the UK HardCover Edition and its sooooo beautiful. I want to melt, the edges of the pages are blue!

Synopsis from Goodreads:
The dream chooses the dreamer, not the other way around—and Lazlo Strange, war orphan and junior librarian, has always feared that his dream chose poorly. Since he was five years old he’s been obsessed with the mythic lost city of Weep, but it would take someone bolder than he to cross half the world in search of it. Then a stunning opportunity presents itself, in the person of a hero called the Godslayer and a band of legendary warriors, and he has to seize his chance or lose his dream forever.

What happened in Weep two hundred years ago to cut it off from the rest of the world? What exactly did the Godslayer slay that went by the name of god? And what is the mysterious problem he now seeks help in solving?

The answers await in Weep, but so do more mysteries—including the blue-skinned goddess who appears in Lazlo’s dreams. How did he dream her before he knew she existed? And if all the gods are dead, why does she seem so real?

So what had happened was…I started reading this book but then I received Strange the Dreamer in the mail. Thankfully, I wasn’t a full chapter in when I placed it down. But I will be getting back to The Seafarer’s Kiss by Julia Ember once I am done with Strange. I wasn’t supposed to even get this book. It was a pre-order and I received it days later. The Seafarer’s Kiss is a Bisexual Little Mermaid Retelling ❤

Synopsis from Goodreads:
Having long-wondered what lives beyond the ice shelf, nineteen-year-old mermaid Ersel learns of the life she wants when she rescues and befriends Ragna, a shield-maiden stranded on the mermen’s glacier. But when Ersel’s childhood friend and suitor catches them together, he gives Ersel a choice: say goodbye to Ragna or face justice at the hands of the glacier’s brutal king.

Determined to forge a different fate, Ersel seeks help from Loki. But such deals are never as one expects, and the outcome sees her exiled from the only home and protection she’s known. To save herself from perishing in the barren, underwater wasteland and be reunited with the human she’s come to love, Ersel must try to outsmart the God of Lies.
