Her whole family vanishes into thin air, leaving her alone with Nova, a brujo boy she can’t trust. A boy whose intentions are as dark as the strange markings on his skin.

  • A Gathering of Shadows (Shades of Magic #2) by V.E. Schwab is Fantasy:
I’m purposely going to avoid a synopsis on this one because I have yet to read the first book which is A Darker Shade of Magic.
  • Made You Up by Francesca Zappia is a YA Contemporary:
Alex fights a daily battle to figure out the difference between reality and delusion. Armed with a take-no-prisoners attitude, her camera, a Magic 8-Ball, and her only ally (her little sister), Alex wages a war against her schizophrenia, determined to stay sane long enough to get into college. She’s pretty optimistic about her chances until classes begin, and she runs into Miles. Didn’t she imagine him? Before she knows it, Alex is making friends, going to parties, falling in love, and experiencing all the usual rites of passage for teenagers. But Alex is used to being crazy. She’s not prepared for normal.
  • Liesl & Po by Lauren Oliver is a Middle Grade Paranormal/Fantasy:
Liesl lives in a tiny attic bedroom, locked away by her cruel stepmother. Her only friends are the shadows and the mice, until one night a ghost appears from the darkness. It is Po, who comes from the Other Side. Both Liesl and Po are lonely, but together they are less alone. That same night, an alchemist’s apprentice, Will, bungles an important delivery. He accidentally switches a box containing the most powerful magic in the world with one containing something decidedly less remarkable.
Will’s mistake has tremendous consequences for Liesl and Po, and it draws the three of them together on an extraordinary journey.

  • Memories by Lang Leav:
Best-selling poet Lang Leav presents a gorgeous hardcover gift book featuring the best of Lullabies and Love & Misadventure plus thirty-five new poems for fans to discover, along with original color illustrations by the author.
  • Born to Love, Cursed to Feel by Samantha King:
Born to Love, Cursed to Feel is about love—the good, the bad, and the confusing. It touches on morals and how when emotions are involved it’s not as black and white. The poetry is frequently written in a narrative manner that evocatively pulls you in and makes you feel. This book is about falling in love, bad decisions, and ultimately growth. The essence of it all is to show that no matter how far one falls all the mistakes don’t have to be what defines them.
  • Envelope Poems by Emily Dickinson:
These manuscripts on envelopes (recycled by the poet with marked New England thrift) were written with the full powers of her late, most radical period. Intensely alive, these envelope poems are charged with a special poignancy—addressed to no one and everyone at once.

E-Books:

  • The Falconer (The Falconer #1) by Elizabeth May is a YA Fantasy/Steampunk:
One girl’s nightmare is this girl’s faery tale. The first volume of a trilogy from an exciting new voice in young adult fantasy, this electrifying thriller combines romance and action, steampunk technology and Scottish lore in a deliciously addictive read. (read full synopsis at the link above)
  • The Queen of the Tearling (The Queen of the Tearling #1) by Erika Johansen is Fantasy:
An untested young princess must claim her throne, learn to become a queen, and combat a malevolent sorceress in an epic battle between light and darkness in this spectacular debut—the first novel in a trilogy.
  • More Happy Than Not by Adam Silvera is a YA LGBTQ Contemporary:
In the months after his father’s suicide, it’s been tough for 16-year-old Aaron Soto to find happiness again–but he’s still gunning for it. With the support of his girlfriend Genevieve and his overworked mom, he’s slowly remembering what that might feel like. But grief and the smile-shaped scar on his wrist prevent him from forgetting completely.
When Genevieve leaves for a couple of weeks, Aaron spends all his time hanging out with this new guy, Thomas. Aaron’s crew notices, and they’re not exactly thrilled. But Aaron can’t deny the happiness Thomas brings or how Thomas makes him feel safe from himself, despite the tensions their friendship is stirring with his girlfriend and friends. Since Aaron can’t stay away from Thomas or turn off his newfound feelings for him, he considers turning to the Leteo Institute’s revolutionary memory-alteration procedure to straighten himself out, even if it means forgetting who he truly is.  Why does happiness have to be so hard?

  • My Lady Jane by Cynthia Hand, Brodi Ashton, and Jodi Meadows is a YA Historical Fiction:
The comical, fantastical, romantical, (not) entirely true story of Lady Jane Grey. In My Lady Jane, coauthors Cynthia Hand, Brodi Ashton, and Jodi Meadows have created a one-of-a-kind fantasy in the tradition of The Princess Bride, featuring a reluctant king, an even more reluctant queen, a noble steed, and only a passing resemblance to actual history—because sometimes history needs a little help.
At sixteen, Lady Jane Grey is about to be married off to a stranger and caught up in a conspiracy to rob her cousin, King Edward, of his throne. But those trifling problems aren’t for Jane to worry about. Jane is about to become the Queen of England.
  • Paper Princess (The Royals #1) by Erin Watt is a New Adult Romance:
From strip clubs and truck stops to southern coast mansions and prep schools, one girl tries to stay true to herself.
    These Royals will ruin you..
Ella Harper is a survivor—a pragmatic optimist. She’s spent her whole life moving from town to town with her flighty mother, struggling to make ends meet and believing that someday she’ll climb out of the gutter. After her mother’s death, Ella is truly alone. Until Callum Royal appears, plucking Ella out of poverty and tossing her into his posh mansion among his five sons who all hate her. Each Royal boy is more magnetic than the last, but none as captivating as Reed Royal, the boy who is determined to send her back to the slums she came from.
Reed doesn’t want her. He says she doesn’t belong with the Royals. He might be right. Wealth. Excess. Deception. It’s like nothing Ella has ever experienced, and if she’s going to survive her time in the Royal palace, she’ll need to learn to issue her own Royal decrees.
  • Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland by Lewis Carroll

Saturday Mini Book Haul

I dropped my dog off the groomers today and while he was getting groomed, I decided to go to Barnes and Noble. Now, I didn’t plan on buying books but these three books that I will be showing you were at the Bargain Priced section of B&N. They’ve been on my TBR forever!! But when it comes to New Adult books, I don’t like paying full price (unless it’s an auto-buy author) and I didn’t see these books on other websites for sale. Till today!!!

All the books are from the same author, Jessica Sorenson.
They all fall under the same genre: New Adult, Romance, Chick Lit (do you see where I’m going with this?)

First book I’ll show you is: The Coincidence of Callie and Kayden (The Coincidence Series)

fullsizerender-8

This is book 1 out of a 7 (I wish you could’ve seen my face when I went on Goodreads to check how many books there were, I literally gasped….7 books?!?!??! OMG…but it looks like other couples are involved)

Anyways here’s the synopsis from Goodreads:

For Kayden, suffering in silence was the only way to survive. If he was lucky, he could keep his head down, do as he was told, and make it through the day. But one night it seemed like his luck — and his life — might finally end… until an angel named Callie appeared just in time to rescue him.

Callie has never believed in luck. Not since her twelfth birthday when everything was taken from her. After the worst was over, she locked up her feelings and vowed never to tell anyone what happened. Now, six years later, she continues to struggle with the painful secret that threatens to consume her.

When fate lands Kayden and Callie at the same college, Kayden is determined to get to know the beautiful girl who changed his destiny. Quiet and reserved, Callie still fears letting anyone else into her world. But Kayden is certain that Callie has come back into his life for a reason. And the more he tries to be a part of her life, the more he realizes that, this time, it’s Callie who needs to be saved…

The next two books I have here to show you are books 1 and 2 of The Secret Series. There are 4 books in this series.

The Secret of Ella and Micha (The Secret #1)
The Forever of Ella and Micha (The Secret #2)

fullsizerender-9

Synopsis from Goodreads:

Ella and Micha have been best friends since they were kids. But one tragic night shatters their friendship and their lives forever.

Ella used to be a rule-breaker with fiery attitude who wore her heart on her sleeve. But she left everything behind when she went to college and transformed into someone that follows the rules, keeps everything together, and hides all her problems. But now it’s summer break and she has nowhere else to go but home.

Ella fears everything she worked so hard to bury might resurface, especially with Micha living right next door. If Micha tries to tempt the old her back, she knows that it will be hard to resist.

Micha is sexy, smart, confident, and can get under Ella’s skin like no one else can. He knows everything about her, including her darkest secrets. And he’s determined to bring his best friend, and the girl he loves back, no matter what it takes.

I look forward to reading these books. I’m a mood reader so I don’t know when I’ll be picking them up. Have you read any of these books? If yes, what did you think? Let me know in the comments. Happy Reading!
