hi hello hola! i am back!! i missed you all and it feels great to be back after a month of me gone. a lot has happened and i’m not sure i’m ready to talk about it. september was a really hectic month with everything i spoke about in my hiatus post, my birthday, and hurricane maria..it’s a lot to deal with at the moment but i’m happy to be back in my element again. it’s been a little over a month and i just wanted to come back so bad *cries for ever*
if you are wondering why i mentioned hurricane maria or if you don’t follow me on twitter, then know i am Puerto Rican. although i have my immediate family here in the states. i want to say 98% of my family is in Puerto Rico. ever since the hurricane hit, this has been one of the toughest times. with not knowing about my family for a few days, to then us finding out that yes they are okay and alive but there’s no food and water. being over here and feeling so helpless. it’s a lot to take in. my family also happens to be on the west side which is always forgotten. the town my family is in isn’t even receiving supplies. this whole situation just sucks..let’s not even talk about the president *eye roll* therefore, i wanted to use this platform and let you know that there is a way to help by maybe donating here:
The Wrap Up’s
i didn’t read much these past two months due to everything that has been going on in my life. i read 3 poetry books and 2 YA novels.
- Stalking Jacking the Ripper (SJTR #1) by Kerri Maniscalco
A 4 star read for me! This YA Historical Fiction Mystery is definitely a book that I would highly recommend. I loved the story, the setting, the steampunk elements and the mystery. This book was worth every single turned page. I cannot wait to read Hunting Prince Dracula which I am seeing is getting tons of more love. If you click the title of the book, it will lead you to my review =) - Warcross (Warcross #1) by Marie Lu
A 5 star and all of the above read!!!! This futuristic YA Sci-Fi novel will set you in a technological advanced world where you get to live in a virtual reality and still live in the real world. This book was definitely a favorite read for 2017. I cannot wait to read the next books!! The title of this book will lead you to my rave review.
each of these poetry books were 5 stars
titles will take you to goodread page
- [redacted] by trista mateer
“This comes in the form of handwritten notes and poetry fragments, iPhone note poetry, tweets, Craigslist ads, and more. This mix of poetry and prose spans a single month and covers topics such as heartbreak, gender, sexuality, and forgiveness.”
That’s the goodreads synopsis. Are you convinced yet? You should read it. - Mad Woman by Kat Savage
“Mad Woman whish is comprised of 40 pieces that capture her stream on conscious, her confessions, and her strange thoughts. In Mad Woman, she bears it all and embraces her madness driven by loneliness and disappointment.”
I CRIED SO MUCH WHILE READING THIS BOOK. I FELT LIKE SHE WROTE THIS ONE FOR ME. FOR THE BROKEN GIRLS WHO FEEL LIKE THEY CAN’T EXPRESS THEMSELVES. OMG THIS BOOK!! - The Last Time I’ll Write About You by Dawn Lanuza
“Should I be
Thankful
Or
Regretful
That my only idea
Of love
Is
You?”
A book filled with heartbreak poetry and words of love and loss. I loved reading this. I was nodding my head with a lot of these poems because I understand the author’s words.
today so happens to be the 6 month anniversary of love, and you…which i can’t quite believe and i wrote a thing for all of you ❤ if you want to check more on my poetry book, click here.
and that is all for now. sorry i’m a little all over the place lol. it feels great to be back and i cannot wait to blog hop, check what all of you have been up to. i plan on doing a book haul and book tag soon. maybe post a poem later on this week about my island puerto rico. my heart lays heavy. love you all!

Welcome back Gretchen. 🙂 It’s brilliant to see you on WordPress again and I hope you had a good hiatus and feel refreshed once more. 😀 ❤
I am really glad to see you loved Warcross and Stalking Jack the Ripper. I've read Warcross myself and LOVED it, that ending really shocked me but oh do I need the next book in the series now. Stalking Jack the Ripper is still on my to-read list but I can't wait to get around to it. I've seen some good reviews so far so I'm sure it'll be a book I enjoy too.
Congrats on your six month anniversary of Love, and You. I can't believe it's been six months already!
Also I hope you have a great October. 🙂 ❤

That’s all right! 🙂
Yes, it’s nearly enough to make me wish I’d waited until the second book was released before starting the first.
Thanks Gretchen, I want to try and get around to Stalking Jack the Ripper soon but for me soon could mean anytime at all. ❤

happy six month anniversary love. I am forever proud of you but you know that. You have come so far and I hope you are giving yourself such a big hug for turning your struggle into something beautiful and inspiring for others. I always tell you how your words always connect with me and I know they will connect with so many more.
I also have Warcross on my shelf which I need to pick up and read especially if you say 5 star!! 🙂
Praying for your family and others in Puerto Rico still, I hope aid manages to get to them. I hate how they are always forgotten but if they are like you, they are survivors and fighters. ❤

I am so sorry to hear about your family in Puerto Rico. I’m glad to hear they are okay. It sucks that the town they live in aren’t getting any supplies. I think everyone should be getting supplies equally right now. The president sucks. 😦 Sending good vibes to Puerto Rico and your family.
I am dying to get my hands on Warcross. That cover is amazing and I’ve heard a lot of good things about it. Glad to see that you loved it. 🙂
Congrats on six months of Love, and You! That’s exciting!

Welcome back! I’m so sorry the past month has been challenging like this. The worst part is that you already knew it would be challenging, even without Hurricane Maria. Thank you for sharing those links! It’s nice to know I have some options for supporting victims of Maria which have been vetted. I hate all the helplessness I’ve felt lately!
CONGRATS on the 6 months anniversary of love, and you! That open letter is absolutely beautiful. I know sometimes it’s hard to love yourself and stay positive– but know that this community is always here for you. Your words are magical to us. And we hope to support you in the same way. ❤

Thanks so much Jackie! Your words have hit deep. The past month or so has definitely been though but I don’t think anyone can stop the unity that Puerto Rico has. I have felt very helpless as well.

I’m so sorry that you’ve felt helpless! Even just sharing this is a HUGE help to the country. You’re taking action and making a different. Don’t let your brain tell you otherwise. 😉

You are a beautiful and strong soul my dear ❤ I continue to draw much strength from you and your words. With the hurricanes, I have thought of you often and can only imagine how emotionally draining this must all be. I try to follow on the news, but everytime that orange ass clown appears, I find myself turning off the tv in frustration and heartache.
On the book side of things, I am thankful to see Stalking Jack the Ripper was a 4 star read for you! I have high hopes for it but recently saw many negative reviews. I think I am passing on Warcross for now. My inner being is telling me it is not an ideal read for me at this time haha.
Hope you, Baxter and the family are all well and safe!

Aww thanks love!!! Cheeto dust is ridiculous!!! Ugh he really has no soul/heart at all. We are just hoping for the best at this point.
Ahh sorry to see that you saw many negative reviews, I think Stalking Jack the Ripper is one of those hit or miss books. I feel like it equally has the same likes and dislikes lol.
Lol I would say pass Warcross if that is how you’re feeling. It’s definitely always best to read something that you know has piqued your interest.
Love you!! And thank you for everything ❤

Love you! And yes about Cheeto dust (aka the orange turd as my son calls him). Sad statee of affairs and we are trying to survive four years holding our breath. My uber driver yesterday acted like he was going to put me out over that clown. He was all “Trump this.. Trump that.” and asked my opinion.. and I was like “He is a complete moron and an a$$. I didn’t vote for him.”.. awkward lol
