Hey everyone! Happy friday!! I am so happy the weekend is here because this week has been just a little too long for me. I look forward to relaxing and doing absolutely nothing lol. I finished Our Dark Duet last night and my heart is still broken, I have so many feelings and thoughts but there will be a review up for it in the next comings days.
While on my long anxious way to work, I started reading Eliza and Her Monsters by Francesca Zappia. I say anxious because there were two ladies talking, more like SCREAMING, on the bus ride. And to top it all off, two more ladies stepped on the bus and it was like a screaming match on who can have the loudest conversation. Music couldn’t even save me from silencing them. Ma’am I do not care about your baby daddy situation, can I just read my book? Please and thank you.
I only got to read 20 pages of Eliza and Her Monsters because I couldn’t really concentrate with the loud mouths on the bus. However!! what I did get to read got me really excited and I cannot wait to read more tonight and this weekend.
Her story is a phenomenon. Her life is a disaster.
In the real world, Eliza Mirk is shy, weird, and friendless. Online, she’s LadyConstellation, the anonymous creator of the wildly popular webcomic Monstrous Sea. Eliza can’t imagine enjoying the real world as much as she loves the online one, and she has no desire to try.
Then Wallace Warland, Monstrous Sea’s biggest fanfiction writer, transfers to her school. Wallace thinks Eliza is just another fan, and as he draws her out of her shell, she begins to wonder if a life offline might be worthwhile.
But when Eliza’s secret is accidentally shared with the world, everything she’s built—her story, her relationship with Wallace, and even her sanity—begins to fall apart.
i hope you all have a great weekend! have you read Eliza and Her Monsters or plan on to? let’s chat in the comments! i would love to know your thoughts ❤

Thank you so much!!! So far with what I read, I feel like Eliza is definitely relatable. She’s like the teenager I was in HS lol. I hope you enjoy it when you get to it =)

Oh I’ve heard some amazing things about Eliza and her Monsters, it’s still not released in the UK for another couple of weeks and I am desperate to read it because of some of the reviews I’ve read. I really hope you enjoy it, and I hope you’ll get further through the book now you’re away from the two ladies screaming on the bus. Whenever I read I have my iPod on so I don’t hear the noise of the commute around me. It definitely works for me! 🙂

Yeah, it’s being released next month so it’s one of my highly anticipated July releases at the moment. Oh wow they must have really been talking loud then.
Thanks Gretchen. 🙂

I totally agree with you, I loved Our Dark Duet but that ending left me lying on the floor in a puddle of tears. There were a few things I think could have been improved, but it was intense and brilliantly-written. Glad to hear you’re enjoying Eliza and Her Monsters, it sounds like a fun read!

Yeah, I definitely felt that their storyline wasn’t wrapped up so I’d be excited to hear if there’s more to come about them. I also felt like *those* final scenes were incredibly bittersweet; it somehow felt like the right kind of ending and closure but was still incredibly sad. Wonderful, I’ll watch out on twitter for your updates!

Wow that sounds like a disappointing commute to say the least. People who feel the need to be load make me anxious. Now I cannot take public transportation alone for the obvious reasons, but yet another reason I am happy to avoid it 😦 I hope you have plenty of time to read this weekend. I love that cover!

there are some people here in NYC that you know who you can say things too and others you just don’t unless you’re looking for a fight lol. those were the type of people that you don’t mess with unless you want to fight with AND they were already talking about things that seem so toxicant in their life. ugh, just not even worth the bother lol.
i have had a good weekend so far! hope you are having a good weekend too ❤

Glad to hear that you are enjoying/you enjoyed it! 😀 I’d love to hear your final thoughts on it so I can decide if this should be my next buy! I love to read contemporary books during the summer 😀
