November Wrap-Up 2016

Hello everyone!! I hope you are all doing well today. It’s the ending of the year and this time is where things get crazy with the holidays and holiday shopping.

I only read two books in November. November was a hard month for me, I’ve been going through some things in my personal life and also experienced the dreaded Reading Slump because of the hectic stuff going on. On a positive note, I did start writing a new poetry book which also has placed a stop on my reading.

On to the books!

Heartless by Marissa Meyer ★★★★★
Genre: YA Fantasy
This book is a Queen of Hearts from Alice in Wonderland retelling, I have a in depth non spoiler review here. This was my favorite of the month and I got to buddy read this with my book bestie Lilly @ Lair Of Books. If you click her name, it will also lead you to her awesome in depth review =)

Sweet Filthy Boy (Wild Seasons Series #1) by Christina Lauren ★★
Genre: New Adult
Someone should’ve saved me from reading this book lol. I couldn’t stand it and I have a rant review for it here. The review explains my thoughts and feelings towards it perfectly.

Like I stated earlier, November wasn’t my greatest month, however I still posted some poetry for People I Once Knew. I posted parts 11, 12, and 13. Which are about the neighbors that once lived upstairs, a teenage friend, and a stalker.

I also posted other poems:
sorry for being absent
the cab driver this morning
me, him, and us.
a story written in verse

I do a meme that goes by the name of Mini Review Monday. I posted 2 M.R.M.’s for:
Ugly Love by Colleen Hoover
Legend (The Legend Trilogy #1) by Marie Lu

What I’ve been watching:
I finished Sons of Anarchy and also started/finished Luke Cage. Both 5 out of 5 star ratings for me. LOVED EVERY SINGLE THING and would highly recommend it!

I can’t make any promises reading wise for December, especially with the holidays around the corner but I just hope you all stay safe out there and enjoy any time off!

Have you read the books and/or shows that were mentioned? What are your thoughts? I hope you have a great December =D

  2. Ahhhh November November, we had some highs & Lo’s there but on t bigger & better things 😉 I had a blast reading Heartless with you & gushing over the writing & characters Marissa Meyer created. It honestly came at the right time & with all the craziness in our lives, we could NOT stop reading it every free moment we had lol. LOved your Sweet Filthy Boy review, left me in stitches smh and saved me the trouble of utter disappointment. For all intents purposes, you are my Go To for NA so in you I trust lol. Your writing is always AMAZING, this month though, you was on FIRE! I enjoyed them all as always. So happy you FINALLY watched SOA & Luke, Gahhhhh! when you can’t find anything to compare *the struggle is real*

  3. I never had a reading slump but I really hope you get over it soon. I would recommend you to read fantasy books or thrillers and better avoid NA contemporaries for a while. Hope you have a great December! 😀

  4. I’m sorry this was a hard month for you Gretchen but hopefully you’ll be out of your reading slump soon, and you’ll have a better December as well.
Heartless seems like an amazing read and I can’t wait to get around to it myself as well! I love Marissa Meter and Alice in Wonderland so I’m sure I’ll love this book as well.
Also I need to get around to Luke Cage soon! I’ve heard some great things about it and just can’t wait to start and see what all the fuss is about. Plus I’m a massive Marvel fan! 😀

    • I am out the dreaded reading slump!! Lol, thankfully I read one amazing book that took it all away and now I have started another really good book. I hope you love Heartless, it was just WAY TOO GOOD!! I would love to re-read that one some time in the future. Luke Cage was super good! It definitely hit on some important themes as well. I hope you have a lovely December Beth ❤

  6. There’s nothing wrong with two books! That’s how many I read 😉 I need to read Heartless. I’ve just been hesitant about it… but I’m gonna go for it and hopefully I’ll love it as much as you! ❤️

  7. I’m re watching Sons of Anarchy right now! I was missing it, well mostly missing Jax lol. I’m still on the first season even though I already know what happens but it’s still addicting as hell since I first watched it so long ago. Love it! I loved your poems this month as always :).

  8. I’m so sorry you are going through a rough patch right now. Please don’t ever hesitate to reach out if you EVER need anything! I’m assuming you are using your poetry as a coping mechanism and outlet for your feelings, but don’t underestimate the power of venting to friends 🙂

I hope you can come out of your slump soon!
