Standalone Sunday

Hello everyone! Standalone Sunday is a weekly meme created by Megan@bookslayerReads. This meme is about Standalone book (that is not part of a series) that you loved and would recommend. Check out her lovely blog, she’s a sweetheart ❤

19547856-2Sixteen-year-old and not-so-openly gay Simon Spier prefers to save his drama for the school musical. But when an email falls into the wrong hands, his secret is at risk of being thrust into the spotlight. Now Simon is actually being blackmailed: if he doesn’t play wingman for class clown Martin, his sexual identity will become everyone’s business. Worse, the privacy of Blue, the pen name of the boy he’s been emailing, will be compromised.

With some messy dynamics emerging in his once tight-knit group of friends, and his email correspondence with Blue growing more flirtatious every day, Simon’s junior year has suddenly gotten all kinds of complicated. Now, change-averse Simon has to find a way to step out of his comfort zone before he’s pushed out—without alienating his friends, compromising himself, or fumbling a shot at happiness with the most confusing, adorable guy he’s never met.

  1. Hubby gifted this one to me after seeing me hovering over it on iBooks. I really should get to reading it, I’ve heard so many great things. Whelp, maybe I’ll read it after that other book of hers coming out next year 😉 Great pick Gretchen! 💕

  2. Oh this is a great pick for this week’s Standalone Sunday Gretchen (I completely forgot I wanted to take part this week so I’ll have to wait for next week’s now).
I LOVED Simon Vs. It was one of the first YA contemporary books I think I reviewed on my blog and even now it’s a favourite of mine. I just loved the characters and pretty much everything about the relationship between Simon and Blue! ❤

  3. I’ve wanted to read this book before it was even released!! But like Jill said, I guess I just keep forgetting about it. I need to organize my TBR based on which books I want/need to read next and add this towards the top. I’ve heard great things about it! Thanks for the rec!
