My Autumn Themed Room/Bookshelf

Hi everyone! So today’s post is a little different then usual. However!!! AUTUMN IS UPON US!! If you live in the US, then I’m just going to ignore the “Autumn starts on the 22nd Gretchen” I know I know but I can’t help myself!

If you don’t know, Autumn is my favorite time of the year and September is my birthday month. I also love decorating my bookshelves and room according to the time of year.

I wanted to show you what I did to my room now that September is here!

What do you think? Do you also decorate your shelves? If you have photos posted on your instagram and/or twitter, then let me know! You can also follow me on ChicNerdReads (same user name on both platforms)

Have a great day everyone and Happy September!

  1. šŸ’ž beautiful! I’ve started decorating for Halloween already šŸ˜±šŸŽƒ I can’t help myself. I love this time of yea also! Fall, Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas and all the fun times it brings! I miss living in the north though. Fall is so much better up there than down here in Oklahoma šŸ˜ž I can’t wait to finish college and go back.

      • Horrible šŸ˜£. Too hot, too humid, too many bugs. Also too many religious extremists down here. I’m still trying to decide between going back home to Michigan or go to Oregon. I love both areas. I also love NYC but honestly I’m not sure if I can afford to live there. I’m hoping to come to NYC in June 2017 for BEA and BookCon. Fingers crossed!

      • Religious extremists? šŸ¤ NYC is super expensive even in The Bronx (where I live) so I wouldn’t suggest it. I’ve heard great things about Michigan, I know a few people who live there. If you come to BEA, please let me know. I plan on going and would love to meet you!

      • I’m waiting for Oklahoma to start checking your religion before you enter the state šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚ education down here sucks too. I was born and raised in Michigan. Of course as a kid you always want to leave your home. But now that I’ve been gone for 10+ years in itching to move back. I grew up over by the thumb but if I move back I’d go north to Traverse City area. But I’m torn because I love Portland and the coastal areas of Oregon too. I will for sure let you know if I go!! It would be so exciting to meet up with you.

  2. I admire your bookshelf! I just moved, so I’m in the process of creating a new bookshelf design. But yours is amazing!! My birthday is in September, too. Mine is the 10th. When is yours?

  3. Holy I am in love! I never thought about decorating my shelfs… or anything for this time of year! That is such a cool idea, I love all the leaves! Maybe once I have a proper looking bookshelf where things have an actual spot instead of things thrown everywhere I will try this out! šŸ™‚

  4. I LOVE your shelves…They appear to curve, and I’ve never seen that before. They are amazing! (Unless it’s just the angle of the pic)
Please tell me what the Gretchen thing means…I’m DYING to know! (U.S. person over here)
Love what you did with the place. I love fall, too. Not too cold, not too hot…just right. Crisp air. Pumpkin spice smells. Pretty leaves.

    • THANK YOU SO MUCH!!
That’s a panoramic shot, that’s why it looks angled =)
Lol I’m from the U.S. too, you know how Autumn starts on September 22nd? Well sometimes people tell me that I decorate my shelves too early and that I should wait till after the 22nd (is that what you were talking about in the comment? sorry). But I feel like once September is here, then so is Fall lol. Autumn is seriously my most favorite time of the year. I bought a candle with a Autumn/Pumpkin smell, ugh I can feel like the crisp lol. So happy you agree with Autumn being amazing ā¤

      • Yeah, but what does Gretchen mean? Is that your name?
Now I get why the shelves curve! I thought that was so cool.
Yes, autumn didn’t happen where I’m from (AZ) so I never got to see the leaves change colors.

      • Oh lol! Yes, Gretchen is my name! =D It means pearl. It originated from Germany but I’m Puerto Rican and my name is common in the town my parents are from. I want to visit Arizona! Sorry that the leaves won’t change =/

  5. Your bookshelf decorations are amazing! Jeez, I have a loft bed, and the built-in bookshelves aren’t big enough to house all of my books, so I have a giant pile of books on top of my desk.
I completely agree with your thoughts on Autumn, though. I love the season, too.
